Is French a difficult language?

Well, I know every language is different and complex, but I'm Vietnamese and the French and Vietnamese alphabet are the same...I think....anyways that's about it. I'm entering high school a few months from now and I want to learn French. I only know a few easy words like "bonjour" or "merci." ^^; I'm apparently sorta good with literary skills though, since I'm the top student in my English class, I love reading and writing, and I won a spelling bee lol? But is French a hard language? I researched a bit and I feel a bit intimidated. O.o It looks pretty complex. >< The pronunciation is kinda different than English and the "r" is hard to pronounce...so, help? :O
